I’m saddened and angered by both the poor quality of reporting in this article and several of the responses. I suggest some of the commenters head to the xoJane website to read Emily’s original article, as well as her other writing (especially this)

Aside from being an incredibly brave, sassy, badass of a woman, Emily McComb’s writing not only generates awareness about the pervasiveness of rape culture, but helps so many readers articulate and come to terms with their own experiences of sexual abuse, harassment and assault. 

To suggest that her appearance or so-called ‘provocative’ poses in the photos used by the Daily Mail (which, incidentally, were not photos chosen by Emily, but copy and pasted from other articles on the xoJane site) either diminish her integrity as a writer, or place any responsibility whatsoever for her rape on her is facile, sexist, ignorant and just downright mean-hearted (a comment which was all the more angering for - apparently- being made by a woman).
